THE HISTORY OF
NINO’S

In 1967 Nino Ciccone moved to Chicago from his hometown of Marigliano, a province of Naples, Italy, and married Adelina Forino also from Italy. Two years later he opened an Italian delicatessen in Bellwood where Adelina sold her homemade ravioli and assorted pastas.
Because Nino’s homemade pastas were gaining popularity, the need for a larger facility prompted them to move their business to a larger complex in Bellwood in the early 1970’s. Then Nino’s began to manufacture their pasta products and started distribution to stores in Chicago and other cities in 1977.
Business continued to grow rapidly and in 1981 the Ciccones purchased a larger facility located in Melrose Park. Two years later an addition was built to accommodate the increased demands for Nino’s products.
Following the death of Adelina in 1990, Nino decided to turn the operation of the business over to his son, Gaetano, who worked along with his parents since leaving his studies in 1986.
In March of 1998 the building which housed Nino's Enterprises Inc. was completely destroyed by fire. Despite the devastating fire the Ciccone’s quickly decided to rebuild their business. Construction began on a brand new, USDA approved, 54,000 square foot building in July 1998. State-of –the-art equipment was imported from Italy for the new facility.
